Why single out communist leaders? Seems more related to authoritarian leaders, of which communist leaders were just a small subset.

Heck our current admin can’t do any wrong in their own eyes, every thing is perfect and winning including the morass in the Middle East that was arbitrarily started on whim and resulted in economic chaos. Or the trade war with Canada.

Or Biden, he couldn’t do any wrong in his own eyes and that led to the current situation.

The socialism one seems to be in bad faith, like not even trying to be in line with how socialism would explain it analogously to the others.

Cherimoya skins regularly consumed cause Parkinson’s like symptoms.

Some fruit skins are okay, others are not.

And some are only okay if home grown or organic bc the skin is otherwise loaded with pesticide residues

Organic doesn’t mean pesticide-free or non-toxic. Organic farming can use pesticides such as copper compounds, pyrethrins and spinosad, all of which have their own toxicity and environmental risks

Europe isn’t a monolith and some countries are weird about cards. Here’s two examples.

In Germany, cash is strongly preferred or was the last time I was there a few years ago.

In Norway, cash is nigh nonexistent.

Don’t mistake Germany as representative of the median European country when it comes to card transactions.

Trite comment. Debit/credit cards never took off in Germany because everyone had a Giro card that worked perfectly well for cashless payments. And for online payments, PayPal filled the gap quick enough. The average German saw no reason to request a Visa/MasterCard from their bank for a heavy fee when PayPal did the job. That's also the difference: Germany never had the "Here, have a free credit card" culture.

A Giro card is a debit card.

With a more benevolent reading of my comment you could have seen that I do consider them equivalent for cashless local payments. My first sentence was meant as "[American] debit/credit cards". This doesn't invalidate anything I said.

Local grocery distributers? I thought the big ones had an absurd market share

My take on the peptides craze is it’s like random people started injected insulin because they have a hazy idea of it being helpful for something or other based on the word on the street but they aren’t sure about dose and also can’t be sure what they’re injecting is actually insulin or uncontaminated. They also aren’t diabetic.

Most peptides don't seem nearly as dangerous as insulin, luckily. Injecting insulin without medical supervision is a good way to give yourself hypoglycemia and die - blood sugar regulation is not something you want to mess with!

People don't seem to be regularly dying from peptides, at least not now.

I'd love to be able to make that statement with such confidence, but you just don't know. Literally no one has any clue what the long-term effect of injecting BPC-157 or what ever stupid well-marketed bullshit is the flavour of the week is, is.

It is true. Because the short-term effects of incorrectly injecting insulin are far greater and known risks. I agree that the long term effects are unknown but considering you could basically kill yourself quite easily with insulin... its clearly far more dangerous.

I get the point but given we don't have any rigorous studies on these substances, the only thing we can say with any certainty is that they likely won't kill you now. It's ludicrous of course but we could have a 100% fatality rate over 5 years from a given peptide and we...just wouldn't know at this moment.

Don't take insulin if you can avoid it. Don't take other stupid shit if you can avoid it. You can definitely avoid this stupid shit.

Doesn't this suggest that all these "Chinese peptides" which Silicon Valley people are injecting are probably fake placebos or just ineffectual?

If these substances actually had substantial effects on the body, people using them without medical supervision would almost certainly be overdosing with some frequency, I think.

(As I understand it, it is very possible to overdose on Ozempic… the reason it doesn't happen is because the purity is controlled, and people are taking specific medically-recommended doses.)

It doesn't suggest that at all? There are a lot of degrees of impact between "directly affecting blood glucose uptake in cells for respiration" and "nothing burger placebo".

Except the USA has its own supply. Vermont would be strongly pro Canadian syrup export tax

Why do you assume they are all the exact same and not that some are using even cheaper ingredients/components?

There’s really no knowing what contaminating or failed spec made that batch super cheap.

It’s a race to the bottom, corners will be cut.

I.e you’re saying AWS values hiding data from google more than customer satisfaction.

That doesn’t sound like being customer focused or obsessed at all.

“Whatever the harmful effects on my health are, that is a trade I make consciously”

Technically since it appears the effects are nebulous to you and if consciousness means informed then it seems a conscious decision is not possible
