My PBS server has 2 datasources - one local external drive & Backblaze B2. I snapshot to the local drive frequently throughout the day & B2 once in the evening.
Yeah I don't backup any of my media zpool. It can all be replaced quite easily, not worth paying for the backup storage.
In my scenario, PBS runs on a VM on my Synology. My Synology does automated backups to Backblaze B2 daily. It averages about $5/TB for B2 storage costs for me.I only backup the critical stuff I don't want to lose.
Avidemux is also great, but I've had some issues with running it under Wayland. LosslessCut works excellent on every platform I've tried with no issues. It also has a much better UI for cutting multiple segments, IMO.
Well yeah, LosslessCut is an Electron app, so it's actually Chrome pretending to be a video editor, and Chrome is well tested on many platforms. And the main downside of an Electron app (memory usage) is less painful as in other cases (like the Slack "standalone" client that's supposed to be permanently running in the background ), so why not...
Just wondering, do you know of a better alternative? I've pretty much only bought Anker recently because they haven't failed me yet. Trying to determine what is quality online now is very difficult.
You almost can. The Windows Terminal app has a performance issue on gsync monitors. I think it's being treated like a game but the app only renders at 60 fps or something, maybe lower, which I guess forces the whole screen to refresh at that rate which causes mouse stutter
That's not true. Wild Rift, Hearthstone, Genshin Impact, and more are made in Unity. Asset flip and low quality games are a meme, which used to be synonymous with Unity games, but the few AAA games made in Unity have been wildly successful.
That’s exactly the point. If you can list the number of ‘AAA’ games on one hand, then the meme holds true. I work on AAA games on in-house engines, and I’m yet to meet someone at work that would consider using Unity for anything other than a mobile, or small ‘indie’ game.
That’s sad it’s still a prevailing attitude because it’s not really true. I definitely wouldn’t choose Unity for a AAA title for workflow issues alone but it’s way more capable than that summation grants.
If they have a multi million dollar investment at stake and they're not able to pivot to any of the other many SBCs out there then they might just be incompetent. The Pi has nothing particularly special about other than it's well documented and cheap.
I mean obviously yes you can redesign and retool manufacturing if you really need to but it's not ideal and best to avoid.
Between "retool" and "hobbyist wait" one seems worse.
You may remember car manufacturers had to shut down assembly lines due to chip shortages in the last few years even for non-critical chips. Redesigning around missing components is non trivial though obviously doable
As someone who was ridiculed by peers and teachers and having had grades be dropped whole letters for poor legibility, I don't share the feeling. I tried years practicing and I am skilled in other dexterous tasks, but handwriting is not one of them. I still use a fountain pen though.
When personal computers hit the scene it was like manna from heaven. It has always been a huge physical challenge for me to write. I have to expend an extraordinary amount of energy to keep my arm and wrist steady when writing. The result is barely legible at best. Torture.
Later when programs came out they let you draw perfect squares, circles, and lines, I felt we had finally ushered in a New Age. I’ll be happy if I never have to pick up a pen again.
My handwriting still looks the same as it did in fourth grade. I was blessed with a forward looking teacher and school system that recognized my interests early and didn’t penalize me for bad penmanship. When my parents asked about my handwriting they said “why worry? He’ll be typing everything when he grows up - we all will!”
And they were right!
The Proxmox Backup Server is the killer feature for me. Incremental and encrypted backups with seamless restoration for LXC and VMs has been amazing.
