Overly sensationalist "for the views" as most things unfortunately are.
We should focus on the substance not the form. The substance of Agile, namely the principles [1], is very sensible not least becomes it was created by 'battle-hardened' people. It's not a panacea and might not fit every scenario, but on the whole it addresses most of the gripes most people have experienced developing software.
The form this takes in pactice in less important. If you don't like/want/need deaily stand-ups then don't do daily stand-ups.
And of course the following (from the article) is true, and tends to be true for anything:
"The word 'agile' has been subverted to the point where it is effectively meaningless, and what passes for an agile community seems to be largely an arena for consultants and vendors to hawk services and products."
