If there are diminished returns, wouldn't that mean the kids interest has waned and it will move on to other toys?

There will always be infinitely more things kids would like to have than you could possibly buy. So you'll have to deal with rejecting wishes anyway.

I still prefer them craving for a complicated LEGO model to craving for chocolate or TV shows.
