use http://www.google.com/ncr instead.

'ncr' means non country redirect. So you can remember easily.

I doubt it means that because, for example, it doesn't work from Canada. It still redirects to google.ca.

Thanks, whenever I get redirected to a local version of Google, I use that link, it's placed at the bottom right of localized Google home as "Google.com in English".
