Since there isn't a real definition of what "smart" means and what "intelligence" is, we could also redefine the words to mean what the author is espousing. It would be an interesting thought experiment: if you give your child a non-standard definition, would there be any impact or dissonance in their interactions with the world? I've thought about this with colors (what if my whole life I've thought "green" is something different than what everyone else thinks of as green?), but this seems like it could actually have some benefits if one tried it.
